Parts Needed to Replace a 3,500 lb Axle with 5 on 5 Inch Hubs
Question:
I gobbled one of the spindles and hubs on a 3500 lb trailer axel with 5 on 5 hubs. The spring spacing is approximately 59-1/2” outside to outside. Hub plate to hub plate is approximately 73-1/2”. What is the least expensive way to proceed to get the trailer back in service?

I do have an option for you but we do not have a standard straight axle in the 59-1/2" spring center and 73-1/2" hub face measurements that you provided. Instead, I recommend taking a look at the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System part # ASR3500S05 with the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-550-35-EZ-K. This system will actually replace the axle and suspension with a system that uses rubber aeon springs that will both minimize road shock and improve the trailer's ability to support a load. It is not cost effective per say but it is an upgrade and currently the only option we have for you.
The axle-less system is also very easy to install as you can see in the attached video.
