Troubleshooting P3 Brake Controller Not Able to Lock Trailer Brakes
Question:
I have Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Item # 90195 I have never been able to get it to work that well In the video and on every brake controller I have ever owned it says it will lock up the brakes if its set to high I have never been able to lock up the brakes tried 2 different controllers and 2 wiring harness . The rest of our trucks dont seem to have a problem so Its not the trailers. It does send power back to the plug we have a tester that shows that its working fine but its like the power is there just not enough its an 07 chevy 3500HD. I wandered if I just need to hard wire the electric brake wire instead of going through the factory wiring that just plugs in under the dash.I would appreciate any help you can give me.

That's an odd problem to have with what we know as the very reliable Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller. Do you have the gain turned all the way up and are sliding the manual override all the way when testing it? Is the controller level from side to side and facing the rear of the vehicle squarely?
Typically the only time we'll see issues with the P3 not activating properly is when it's not mounted properly.
