Wireless Observation Camera Option for 2018 Keystone Raptor TS355 with Malfunctioning Camera Wiring

Question:

When I purchased the rv, I noticed that the light on the back up camera was always on. I didnt think much about it until my batteries start draining. I brought it to Camping world to see what they could do. The mechanic said he cut the wire/wires for the camera. My wife did not ask where. Since then, the mechanic doesnt remember the rv. I have read a forum about the wiring maybe in the bedroom closet. I have not found these wires unless they are laying on the bottom of the opening for the washer and dryer. Can you assist me with this? I would like to have the camera working before I take off in 2 weeks.

The specific location of the wiring for the OEM camera on your Keystone Raptor would best be found by contacting Keystone with your 5th wheel's VIN. But even checking with the trailer manufacturer may be a long shot since wire colors and exact placement during production is not the kind of thing that would typically be written down in their specs; and it could even depend on the specific workers that built your RV. We have no way to look this up for you, sorry to say.

You might be able to remove enough of the camera fixtures to note the wire colors used and maybe even the direction in which they are routed.

Since you were having a problem with that wiring anyway (the short that was draining your battery) you might consider leaving that system inoperative and using a wireless camera setup like the Voyager Digital Wireless Observation System # WVOS541. This camera can be wired to the reverse light circuit to function as a backup camera, or it can be connected to a constant power source to function as an always-on observation camera.
