How to Add an Additional 7-Way to Existing Factory 7-Way on 2000 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
2000 Dodge Ram 2500 carrying a 2004 Sunlight 960 Camper and attempting to pull a Pro-Line 16 foot V-nose trailer with electric brakes. Trailer and Camper have to use the same factory installed 7-pin connector on the truck. Is there a Y adaptor to connect both to the truck?

What you will need to do is add an additional 7-Way to your 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 by using the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug # HM42137. This wiring harness will plug in between the OEM wiring harness and your factory installed 7-Way connector and give you an additional 7-Way in the bed of your truck for your camper to plug into.
I also have the Draw-Tite Wiring Harness, part # 20111, that will do the same thing as the harness mentioned above.
When using either one of these wiring harnesses you will still be able to use the factory 7-Way connector that is on the rear of your vehicle.
I would also be cautious when using both 7-Way connectors at the same time. Using the lights on the camper and the trailer at the same time should not cause a problem, but any other 12 volt accessories used at the same time could overload your vehicles wiring system.
I do not offer any type of Y-adapter that will give you two 7-Way connectors from one.
