Does 12V Power Pin Need to be Working Properly for Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller to Work

Question:

We just picked up or first 5th wheel and the 12v output is not registering on the 7 prong fitting in the truck bed. This was specifically for towing our 5th wheel. Our F350 has a draw-tite activator II already installed. A circuit tester in the 7 prong in the truck bed reads that all prongs but the 12v is working. Does the draw-tite activator need the 12v to be working for the brake to work on the tow vehicle? We want to be safe but were hitting the road tomorrow and need to know if we must fix it before we leave or can fix it when we arrive? thanks

As long as you are getting power on the pin in the 5 o'clock position when using the manual override button on your Draw-Tite Activator # 5504 you are good to go.

The 12V power pin, in the 1 o'clock position, is for accessories and isn't connected to the braking circuit at all.
