Sway Control System for a 2006 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
I have a 28ft travel trailer wt.about 5500 lb I am pulling it with 2006 4runner with V8 engine with equalizer hitch air bag on springs about 500lbs of tongue wt. I am still getting a lot of sway would more tongue wt help?

Increasing the tongue weight or moving some of the gear in the trailer forward might help alleviate some of the sway you are experiencing.
If re-distributing some of the gear in the trailer does not improve the situation, going with an active sway control will certainly help.
A weight distribution system that utilizes the Reese Dual Cam Sway Control, like the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, part # RP66083 would be great for your application. This system is designed for trailer tongue weights ranging from 400-800 lbs. The Dual Cam High Performance Sway Control is the best system available. It does not suppress the sway once it happens, it completely prevents it from occurring in the first place.
