Recommended Hand Winch for a Pacific Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a 27’ Pacific boat trailer with carpeted wood bunks. My boat weight is 4500# dry. What winch would be best for me. On the same subject I purchased from you a Drawtite hitch #75376. Invoice ID: 106585398 I’m not sure it is the right hitch to tow this load with a 2006 Benz ML500 standard suspension. Also I think I need a receiver that raises tha ball as the hitch sets pretty low. Is there a remedy for that.

For your Pacific boat trailer, I recommend using the Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Heavy Duty Strap part # 315-W3200D. This winch has a zinc plating for extreme corrosion resistance, two speed handle for faster cranking, and a twenty-foot strap with included safety hook. It has a 3,200 lb weight capacity which will be more than sufficient for your 4,500 lb boat as you have bunk boards and the boat is a rolling load. It comes with a two-year warranty. I have attached a review video for you as well.

I looked at your order and can confirm the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"Item # 13342 e is a fit for your 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML500 however, the gross trailer weight (GTW) and tongue weight (TW) are not synonymous with the weight of your boat/trailer. We do not have a trailer hitch for your vehicle that is rated to tow a 4,500 lb boat/trailer. I also recommend looking in the owner's manual for the vehicle's towing capacity as the lower of the two ratings (hitch/vehicle) will be your limiting factor.

In order to make sure both the vehicle and trailer are level while towing you will need to take a few measurements use the attached help article. You can then use the attached selection to pick the best ball mount for your vehicle/trailer.
