Brake Controller Recommendation for 2017 Honda Ridgeline Towing Multiple Trailers

Question:

I am looking at proportional verses time delayed brake controllers for my 2017 AWD Honda Ridgeline. I was hoping you could answer a couple questions to help me decide which type to get: a Do both types require calibration/adjustment to the trailer you tow? b I would tow a 2000 lb popup camper now and will replace with a 3500 lb camper later this year plus an occasional rental trailer. Would I basically be repeating the calibration each time I use a different trailer from the last time I towed? Overall recommendations appreciated. I will likely tow several weekends and a couple weeks during the year. Sometimes drives up to 600+ miles. I am most concerned with something both effective and relatively simple to operate.

Proportional brake controllers don't require much adjustment once they are setup initially. They only have to be calibrated once. For a heavier trailer you might use a higher boost setting so that the sensitivity is increased and the braking action comes in a bit more aggressively but in a lot of cases that's not needed.

The best solution would be the Prodigy P3 part # 90195. It has the ability to have different trailer settings saved so that if you were to find the perfect setting for one trailer you could save it and then easily bring it back up after switching back to it. This would be your best solution. It will allow you to find the perfect setting for both trailers and bring them up easily when switching trailers.

To install this on your 2017 Honda Ridgeline would only require you to use the install harness part # 3070-P which plugs right into the port under your dash.
