Why are Some Trailer Wiring Colors Codes Different From Others
Question:
Why are there so many different color codes for plugs?

The short answer is that not all companies follow a universal color/function pattern for trailer wiring. If the colors listed on the product page for Pollak Metal 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Socket, # PK12703, do not match what is on your vehicle, you will need to use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to determine the functions and wire it all accordingly.
For the Pollak connector, it lists the following configuration:
White - Ground
Blue - Electric Brake
Green - Tail, License and Running Lights
Black - Battery Charge
Red - Stop and Left-Hand Turn Signal
Brown - Stop and Right-Hand Turn Signal
Yellow - Auxiliary Circuit
I have included a link to our wiring FAQ that may also be helpful.
