Heftier Weight Distribution or Timbren Suspension Enhancement for a 2008 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a 2008 f150 supercrew 4x4. I have a 7000# travel trailer with approximately 1010# tongue weight including the cargo behind the axle. My question is, I use an equilizer hitch rated for 1000#/10,000#. If I upgrade to a 1200# hitch will that take sag out or would the timbren suspension be the way to go. Thanks,

Ideally you want a weight distribution (WD) system that your 1,010 lbs of tongue weight (TW) plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle falls in the middle of. If a WD system is rated too high then your ride will be stiff but if it isn't rated high enough, as is your case, you won't even know that it is there.

Since your WD system isn't really doing anything for you right now I highly recommend using a WD system that is better rated for your setup. The Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET is a great option that has a TW range of 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs so it is perfect for your setup. This should really help to take out the sag from your 2008 Ford F-150. You will also need a thin walled socket like part # EQ70-00-4800 to install the hitch ball.

If you are still experiencing sag then I would say it would be beneficial to starts looking into suspension enhancement like the Timbren # TFR150D you referenced.
