Insatlling Draw-Tite Activator Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2003 Ford F-150

Question:

i have a 03 f150. i only have a 4 flat in the back. my controller is a Activator IV it has a flat plug. under my dash has a square plug. Im skiddish about splicing wires. Will there be a plug in the wire harness on the fram some where that i can hook up to in the rear? What do i do about the indash plugs not matching without rigging it. I bought this kit out of town in a trailer shop.

To install your brake controller, you will need a Brake Control Wiring Adapter, part # 3035-P. Plug one end into the connector under the dash, and the other end of the adapter would plug into the rear of your brake controller. If your controller has wires exiting the unit (instead of a plug), simply cut off the black plug and wire color for color to your brake controller. If the harness you've purchased only has the bare wires on the end that would connect to the controller, but your Activator II has the plug in the back, you'd need the # 20127 which would wire color for color to the harness you have.

To upgrade your 4-way connector, use the Ford Replacement OEM 7-Way Wiring Harness, part # 118242.

Both parts are very easy to install with no cutting or splicing required. I've linked you to some install videos showing the brake controller and the wiring being installed on a 2001 F150. The procedure would be identical on your 2003.
