As you mentioned in your question, the 3,500 pound and 4,400 pound electric brake assemblies we have available both feature the same 10 inch x 2-1/4 inch measurement. When determining which rating is correct for your trailer, you will need to locate the capacity of your axle(s). This information should be printed on a tag/sticker somewhere on the axle itself, or listed somewhere on the trailer frame. It is more likely that you have a 3,500 pound axle, as this is simply a much more common axle size, but you will want to check to make sure.
For a 3,500 pound brake kit, I recommend the etrailer.com # AKEBRK-35-SA. This kit includes self-adjusting electric brakes for both the driver and passenger side. I have attached an installation video that you might also find helpful.
If you do find that you have 4,400 pound axles, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Brake Kit # K23-478-479 will work perfectly. This kit again includes both the driver and passenger side assemblies.
