Longer Weight Distribution Shank to Tow with Tail Gate Down

Question:

I have an Equalizer hitch. My current shank is 12inch long but I dont have enough room to lower my tailgate. I would like to get one that is a little longer so my rv jack will be a little further from my truck. I need a 7inch drop. Also, I have a 2 1/2inch receiver but I have a 2inch sleeve I currently use. I would prefer a 2 1/2inch but can continue using my sleeve if necessary. Do you have a shank that fits my needs?

We have a few options that may work for you. You didn't say exacty how much longer you need the shank to be and I don't think we have one that fits every piece of criteria you're looking for but here's some ideas that could fit:

Part # RP63971 is 14 inches long overall. The drop is only 6-1/2 inches and that's with a round bar weight distribution system. If you have a trunnion bar system it won't work because the drop is only 4-3/4 inches. It's also for 2 inch receivers so you'll still need your adapter sleeve.

Part # C17122 is 18 inches long overall. It's 14 inches from hitch pin hole to the adustment holes. It has more drop at 7-1/2 inches for a round bar system and 7 inches for a trunnion bar system. It's also for 2 inch receivers.

Part # 325-GH-1302 is a completely different animal but may be your best fit. It's a torsion shank that has rubber flex cords that eliminate shock. However, the drop is 7 inches, it's 13-5/8 inches from the furthest back hitch pin hole to the adjustment holes, and it fits a 2-1/2 inch receiver. It also includes a built-in tongue weight scale.

If none of these are long enough for you to lower your tailgate let me know how long you need it to be and I'll see if we have anything that can work for you.
