Tire Chain Recommendation for 2018 Mazda CX-9 with 255/50-20 Tire Size

Question:

Hello- I have a question about tire chains for the 2018 Mazda CX-9 that has 20 inch tires and is AWD. The book says not to use chains but there do seem to be chains that fit 20 inch tires on your site? Will they work on the 2018 Mazda cx9 that has 20 inch tires little clearance and also if it has AWD are chains necessary?

Our tire chain fitguide is based on tire sizes we know are available for vehicles. We do not verify if the manufacturer of the vehicle recommends tire chains or not. The manufacturer of the vehicle is the final authority on whether or not chains can be used though.

We have found that if you check with a dealer near mountains that require tire chains sometimes you'll get a different recommendation. A lot of times they'll let Class S chains be used which don't require quite as much clearance. For that we have the Konig Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115265 which only require 10 mm of inner sidewall clearance. What I really like about these chains is that they install in a matter of seconds (no exaggeration), offer great traction, and will last a long time.

If Mazda will let you use a Class S tire chain this is the best option by far for your 2018 Mazda CX-9 with tire size 255/50-20.
