Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring for 2018 Subaru Outback

For your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, the best electric trailer brake controller is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. This is simply due to the sleek design and factory look. If you don't care about the factory look, then I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is an easy to use controller with the LCD screen for easy diagnostic information. I've attached videos to assist.
To install a brake controller in your Outback, I recommend starting with a 4-way trailer connector like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Subaru Outback Wagon's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. I've attached a video to assist. Next, you will add the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit will give you a 7-way as well as the circuit breakers, wiring, and the connector for your trailer.
This setup will work very well with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76227 you referenced. You may also be interested in the Curt Easy Mount Bracket # C58000.
