Trailer Suspension Hanger Spacing for a Single Axle Trailer and 23-1/2 Inch Long Spring
Question:
For a 2000lbs 23-1/2 long double eye Spring DIY made for carrying kayaks. I already have the axle and springs but I need to buy shackles. 23-1/2 is not in the chart provided. Thanks,

On a single axle trailer the hanger spacing is approximately 1/2 inch (or slightly more) shorter than the spring length. So if your spring is 23-1/2 inches long, such as # SP-113275, then you are looking at a hanger spacing of 23 inches on center. The shackle length you use depends on the hanger height from the bottom of the trailer frame to the center of the eye hole. You would want the spring eyes to be level so a shackle that is too short or too long would throw that off.
I have included a link to the shackle straps we carry. The shortest is 2 inches, hole center to hole center. The longest is 3-1/2 inches, hole center to hole center.
