Recommended Fastway Weight Distribution System for 2017 Nash 22H Trailer

Question:

Need a weight distributing hitch. I have a 2015 chev 2500 and a 2017 22H nach trailier. The dry TW is 505lbs. Would the FA92-00-0600 work? I like that type of hitch. Thank you

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA92-00-0600 referenced in your question is indeed a very nice system that features integrated 2-point sway control and no-drill clamp-on brackets for easier installation.

In order to determine if this particular system is right for your trailer setup, you will want to determine your total tongue weight. This number will include both the loaded tongue weight of the trailer (as if loaded and ready for a trip), along with any additional cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Silverado. Ideally, this number will fall somewhere near the middle of the operating range for the system you choose.

Using a scale like the # e99044 is the most accurate method for determining the trailer's loaded tongue weight, but we can take a pretty good estimate based on your trailer's weight rating. You did mention a dry tongue weight on the trailer of 505 pounds, but since we want to go by its loaded tongue weight, we will instead use the trailer's GVWR, which I found to be 7,000 pounds in my research. This refers to the most the trailer can weigh when fully loaded. Since a trailer's tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of its total weight, we can use this GVWR to estimate a loaded tongue weight of around 700 to 1,050 pounds.

With this in mind, it's very possible that the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0600 will be under-rated, as it has a tongue weight capacity range of 250 to 600 pounds.

A better option might be with the Fastway e2 # FA94-00-1061, which has a heavier capacity range of 600 to 1,000 pounds. As long as your total tongue weight does not exceed this limit (while also remembering to add in any added cargo weight behind the rear axle of your truck), this system will work perfectly. If you find that your actual total tongue weight approaches or exceeds the 1,000 pound capacity, then the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-1200 will become the better option with its 800 to 1,200 pound capacity.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can check out, along with an FAQ on weight distribution systems that you might find helpful.
