Frame-Mount Trailer Hitch for 5th Wheel RV with Maximum Towing Capacity

Question:

What hitch would work for a 5th wheel to double tow with. The 5th wheel has I-beam framing. The receiver box would need to 4” to clear the bumper. I’d like 5000# capable hitch. Thanks

We have both bumper-mount and frame-mount hitches for trailers that are displayed on the linked page. In general the frame-mounted hitches like # C13701 have higher weight capacities than bumper-mount hitches like # E-100. The trailer's frame width will determine which frame-mount hitch to use.

The USA-made Curt hitch # C13701 is the highest-capacity option and it fits trailer frames from 18- to 51-inches wide. It has a 5K-trailer weight capacity and a 500-lb tongue weight rating. It can be welded on or bolted on to the trailer frame. The hardware is included for bolt-on installation.

Actual towing capacity may be limited by the hitch or by the RV; whichever is rated for less weight. You might want to check with the trailer maker using its VIN to confirm its own capacity to tow. The actual position of the receiver tube will depend on exactly where on the frame you mount the hitch.
