Recommendation for Enclosed Carrier to Transport Generator on Coleman Trailer

Question:

Looking to mount our Honda EU 3000iS generator above the propane tanks of our Coleman BH244 Trailer. I see the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier CC-255 will work, but we are looking for a box to enclose it and possibly a fuel can. Any suggestions?

The Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier # CC-255 that you referenced is a great option for securing your Honda generator to the A-frame of your trailer, however there isn't a similar model available with an enclosed design like you are wanting. If you want to secure the generator to the A-frame, and its 32 inch long, 20 inch wide dimensions are large enough for the generator, then you might be able to add a cover like the Classic Accessories # CA79537. This cover is designed for 7,000 watt generators and it measures 32-3/4 inches long, 24-1/2 inches wide, and 21-1/4 inches tall. This will provide protection against the elements for your generator while secured in this manner.

Otherwise, for a true enclosed carrier that is large enough for your generator and fuel can, you will want to look into hitch-mounted options like the GearDeck 17 # H00604. This cargo box features inside dimensions of 46-1/2 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 25 inches tall. It is compatible with 2 inch hitch receivers and has a weight capacity of 420 pounds.

If you don't yet have a hitch installed on the trailer, I recommend the Curt Adjustable Width Hitch Receiver # 13703. This trailer hitch is specifically designed for RVs and trailers and will fit frame widths between 22 and 72 inches. You can use the included hardware for a bolt-on installation or simply weld it to the frame for a no-drill application. It will provide you with a 2 inch receiver and has a 350 pound tongue weight capacity.
