Brake Controller Recommend for 2018 Ford F-350 Towing Trailer with Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
Question:
I have a 2018 f350 when I connect it to my travel trailer the message says trailer connected until I use the brake or or turn signal then it gives me the trailer disconnected message. The truck works fine on my other trailers, the only difference is that the travel trailer is electric over hydraulic brakes. The travel trailer worked fine on my 2015 f350. Another oddity is that the travel trailer has a hitch and plug on the back to pull your boat. When you hook up the boat trailer you get no errors. Confussed

Factory integrated brake controllers like what you have in your 2018 Ford F-350 can sometimes work fine with electric over hydraulic trailer brakes but sometimes they just don't want to work. It's weird and you'd think they'd have it figured out by now but the only brake controllers that work with EOH style brakes like what your trailer has are ones that were designed for that style of brakes and are aftermarket like our Prodigy P3 part # 90195.
To install it you'd need the harness part # 22292. You will need to unplug the connector under the dash and plug in the # 22292 adapter for the Prodigy P3 brake controller to the factory brake controller plug behind the dash.
The vehicle will need the computer flashed so it will keep from searching for the connection to the OEM brake controller in the future, eliminating any fault codes. This will usually have to be done at the Ford Dealer.
