Best Type of Bike Rack for 2015 Kia Sorento
Question:
Hi, my dad is passing along an xport slipstream 4-bike rack, dual receiver, to me. Most of the attachments/straps to hold the bikes in place are broken in one way or another. Before I bother having a trailer hitch receiver installed on my vehicle 2015 Kia Sorento, I want to know if I can replace those parts. Do you carry a suitable replacement? Thanks!

We do not carry the Xport products here but we do offer all of the available replacement parts for the bike racks we do sell. These include many prominent brands like Thule, Yakima and Saris. Some types of parts, such as the rubber cradle straps that hold the bike frame tubes in the cradles, can sometimes be interchangeable between brands but this will not usually be the case with other parts. Our main page for bike rack replacement parts is linked for you.
A hitch rack is truly the best way to transport bikes. Trunk-mount racks like Thule's Passage 2 # TH910XT, that mount on a car's sheet metal, will usually have lower bike and total weight capacities. Hitch racks put the weight load on the car's frame, its strongest part, and so they tend to offer higher capacity. For reference I linked our page for trunk racks that fit your 2015 Sorento.
The best hitch to install for using a bike rack is a 2-inch Class III type; for your car that means using one of the hitches shown on the linked page. Your car's version affects hitch fits, please note.
Select your specific Sorento version using the drop-down menu tool and you'll then see the hitch options that fit that model.
If you'd care to tell me about how many bikes you have and what types they are I will be happy to recommend some hitch racks. The included article on bike racks may be of interest.
