Troubleshooting Trailer Tire Size 175/80-13 with Center of Tire Wear

Question:

I have a 15foot Lowe Aluminum bass boat and the tires are wearing in the middle rapidly and its a single axle trailer. Ive checked the leaf springs, axle, and hubs and have no movement or anything bent. Tires are Oshion ST 175/80 D 13 with 4 ply tread and 2 ply sidewall. Sidewall says to inflate to 50psi cold and that wore so i went to 42psi cold. Still wearing fast so I went to 34psi cold. If this continues Ill be buying tires every couple hundred miles. Tires still look new except dead center and drivers side is worse. We do drive fair distances on garvel/dirt roads. Any suggestions? Thanks

Typically center tire wear is caused by over-inflation or a tire that's just too round due to design or the trailer not being loaded enough for the tire to flatten out. Bias-ply tires like yours won't wear as well as a radial so for a better tire setup you'd want to go to a radial.

For your tire size of 175/80-13 the best option would be the Provider part # TTWTRTM1758013C which is a radial tire in your current size and is a Load Range C.
