For a gas and electric 6 gallon water heater, I recommend looking at the Atwood RV Water Heater # AT96163. As long as this unit features similar dimensions to your current water heater so it can fit in the same space, there is no reason you can't upgrade from a gas only unit to this gas/electric combo model. The electric element will allow water to heat up quicker than your current gas water heater. This water heater measures 12-1/2 inches tall, 16 inches wide, and 18 inches deep.
It can produce up to 18 gallons of hot water per hour, has a heating capacity of 8,800 Btu, and is thermostatically controlled to prevent overheating.
