Should 6,000 lb or 8,000 lb Fastway e2 System be Used fr Trailer with 400 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a pumper pull travel trailer with tongue weight of 400 lb. Trailer GVW is 4552 lbs. I will pull it with a 2015 Ford Super Duty which is equipped with Timbren Overload springs. I do not anticipate filling the back of the truck with much weight but, if I did, Im thinking that the Timbrens negate the issue of added tongue weight. Im leaning toward the -0600 model...or....would the -0800 be a better choice? Thanks

Unless you plan on adding over 150 lbs in the bed of your 2015 Ford F-250 Super Duty I recommend going with the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0600 as the Tongue Weight (TW) capacity of 600 lbs is a good spot to be at. Even though the e2 # FA92-00-0800 system doesn't have a minimum weight capacity listed it is best to stay about 200 lbs above your trailer TW to avoid using a system that is rated too high.
Whether you have helper springs or Timbren Overload springs you always need to take into account the added weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Yes the springs will help to counter the effects of the weight but it would likely take more than 150 lbs to engage them anyways.
You also need to be sure that the TW of your trailer is within 10-15% or the weight of your loaded trailer.
Please note that a thin-walled socket like part # ALL643216 is required for the installation of the hitch ball.
