Can CURT 20x60 Cargo Carrier # C18151 Work on 1-1/4 Inch Hitch With 1-1/4 To 2 Inch Hitch Adapter
Question:
I only have a 1 1/4 hitch on my 2011 GMC Terrain. Can I use this folding carrier with a 1 1/4 to 2 adapter. I do not intend to haul heavy weight. I plan to use only for hauling any Deer I get in our season.

You can use the CURT 20x60 Folding Cargo Carrier, part # C18151, with a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter on your 2011 GMC Terrain, but you will need to remember that when using the hitch adapter on your hitch it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.
If you have a Class II 1-1/4 inch hitch on your GMC Terrain the tongue weight capacity is 300 lbs. Using the hitch adapter will reduce that to 150 lbs. So, after adding 70 lbs for the weight of the cargo carrier you will be left with less than 80 lbs of cargo you will be able to carry.
I recommend using a cargo carrier like the Curt, # C18110, that is designed to work with your 1-1/4 inch hitch. It will fit a Class II hitch and give you a weight capacity of 300 lbs which will allow you to carry bigger deer, or more deer. When carrying the deer on a cargo carrier you will also want to protect it from the vehicle exhaust.
I am including a link to a page that will show the cargo carriers that will fit in your 1-1/4 inch hitch.
