Tips to Increase Braking Activity of Prodigy RF Brake Contoller on Trailer
Question:
I tow a trailer and notice that each time I tow I need to set the braking strength using the manual override. Is that normal? Also, when I brake I see a series of numbers that change. What does that mean? Thanks

Your Prodigy RF brake controller part # TK94FR is the proportional style of controller which means that it is designed to sense the amount of braking that the tow vehicle is applying and use the same amount of relative braking strength on the trailer. That's why the numbers are changing frequently as the controller is constantly adjusting the braking strength based on the amount of tow vehicle braking it's sensing.
Using the power knob on the right hand side of the remove you'll want to increase the braking strength of the controller till you start to feel the brakes apply. Otherwise you'd want to switch to a boost setting so that the braking becomes more aggressive.
Boost Setting
The boost button was designed to allow a more aggressive
setting for your trailer brakes and is available in three levels
- [ b.I ], [ b.2 ], [ b.3 ]. Each incremental boost setting
increases the sensitivity of the Prodigy RF’s inertial sensor,
enhancing the participation of the trailer brakes during
a braking event.
The first press on the boost button displays the current setting.
Boost is advanced to the next level by continuing to
press the boost button.
