Will GearDeck 17 Enclosed Cargo Carrier Platform Allow Barn Doors to Open on 2017 Mercedes Sprinter
Question:
Hi there, I have a 2017 Mercedes 3500 Sprinter van and just ordered the above today. I just realized that the rise in the hitch mount is 6 inches and my Sprinter barn doors swing out about 6.5 inches above the top pf my 2 inch hitch not mid point where the hole is located for securing hitch to Van Can you say for sure that when assembled the 6 inch rise of the main structural support platform bracket, will allow clearance for my Sprinter Barn doors to open? It would be nice to know before its shipped to Montana and then imported into Canada.

When we measure rise we measure from the top of the receiver opening to the top of the highest point on the slide-out platform. In this case that measurement was 6 inches. If you are measuring from the top of the outside of the receiver then it is possible that there will be interference.
But when slid out the nearest edge of the carrier will be 50 inches out measured from the center of the hitch pin hole. You can check to see, when 50 inches back from pin hole center and 6 inches up from the top of the receiver opening, if there will be interference when the doors are swung open.
