Should Pressure Rating for Suspension Enhancement Air Bag Increase When Load is Put on Trailer
Question:
On your QandA, someone asked if the maximum 100 psi was before or after applying a load. Your response was: Actually 100 psi in the Air Lift kit part # AL88299 will be the same amount of air pressure regardless if the truck is loaded or unloaded. It may seem counter-intuitive but air pressure does not change in the bags when a load is put in the truck. If the air pressure did change that would indicate that the bags are being overloaded. I dont understand this response, because I put 10 psi in my air lift 5000s and when I hook up my trailer, the psi increases to about 28 lbs. This is not due to being overloaded. Its just a matter of physics. If you increase the load, you have to increase the pressure. Like squeezing a balloon. The more pressure you apply, the higher the pressure. Please explain your response. Maybe I just dont get it. Thank you.

I spoke with my contact at Air Lift and this is the what they told me:
Yes, think of it as a balloon. If you were to sit on it the psi would spike. Always measure the loaded psi while sitting at rest. the pressure will fluctuate as you travel down the road.
