Why does the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier Item # C31006 carry the spare tire at such a stupid looking angle? Thank you

The angle of the mounting plate for the Curt Trailer Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # C31006 is odd at first glance, but what it enables you to do is not have to hold the full weight of the wheel off the ground as you mount it to the plate.

With the angle you can basically rest the wheel on the plate and that will make it MUCH easier to mount and remove a wheel.
