There is not an exact location that the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 must be mounted on your 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. As long as the controller is within reach and in-line with the direction of travel, the mounting location does not matter. We typically install the controllers on the drivers kick panel right around where your right knee would be while seated in the driver's seat. This has to do with both accessibility and ease of installation.
The stop light switch wire that you will need to splice into should be a white/tan wire, but you will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to be sure.
