Recommended Replacement Axle for 1962 Ideal 16 Foot Travel Trailer
Question:
I need help with hubs and drums. I am working on a 1962 Ideal 16foot travel trailer. I am having a hard time figuring out which drum and hub to buy. Currently I have a 5x150 bolt pattern and would like to move to something more standard like a 5x4.5 I have taken the drums out which are integrated with the hub. My bearings are inner LM48548 w/ bore dia 1.375 outer M12649 bore dia .843 I do not find anything that matches my spindle, hopefully you might know something that I can do to get this project completed.

The # LM48548 is a fit for a 2500 lb axle but we don't have the other bearing. I recommend replacing your axle with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E. This will give you the bearings, hubs, drums, and standard size spindles for replacement parts as needed and also will replace your suspension. You simply use a 2 inch square tube (not included) between the assemblies in the integrated holes and bolt the assemblies directly to the trailer frame. It will immediately update your trailer for function and give you the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.
I've attached a couple videos to assist. Since you don't have standard size components, this system will be a significant upgrade and then you simply need the tires and wheels.
