When Does Light on Reese Brakeman Brake Controller Come On

Question:

I hooked it up to my 2010 chevy suburban Do I have to have a trailer hooked up for the light to go on? Because it is hooked up correctly but the light did not go on ? Dowse it only go on when trailer hooked to it ? My trailer is not close to check it . Or did I do something wrong ?

The red LED on the front of your Brakeman/Activator part # 5504 only comes on when there is braking power being sent back to the trailer's brakes. If you slide the override lever of the controller or hit the brakes the light should start to get brighter.
