Recommended Cargo Carrier and Accessories for 2018 Subaru Outback
Question:
We are narrowing our choices for a 2000 mile drive with a 2018 Subaru Outback. With cats in the car and some things in the back and in a rooftop cargo box, we still need some room for cat items and people food, and so are considering the Curt carrier hitch. Since the tongue weight is a mere 200 pounds, the aluminum Curt seems to make the most sense. Does this order make sense? Curt C18100 Curt carrier bag 18211 anti-rattle pin and lock 63232 pin for folding feature 7683 we are on the fence about the need for the light kit e98943-44LED as it is not a custom fit and it seems as though if we do not pile things too high on the Subie, the brake lights and license plate might be visible. The light kit cost is reasonable just wondering if it is worth the set up. IS there anything you would suggest or change? Thanks for your advice.

If you have a 2 inch receiver versus the smaller 1-1/4 inch receiver, the 19x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Aluminum # C18100 is a great option at just 29 lbs. The Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 63232 is an excellent choice to secure your carrier and also give it the stability needed. If you desire to have a locking pin at the folding pin location, the hitch lock # e98880 will work well.
The Curt Cargo Bag for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier - Waterproof - 15 Cu Ft # C18211 is a little big for the carrier with the 22 inch width, so you will lose some space. You may want to consider the Cargo Bag # PS63604 as an alternative. The etrailer License Plate and LED Tail Light Mounting Kit for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Item # e98943-44LED will work well for your carrier and will add additional visibility. I think it would be a wise addition for a 2000 mile trip.
