How to Replace a Roof Vent Cover with a Continuous Hinge

Question:

Thanks for the video. However, my vent is exactly like BV0554-03 except it measures 14.25 on the inside lip. Where should I be measuring? It's 15 to the outside lip.

The metal hinge riveted to the inside of the roof vent cover is not designed to be removed. When you replace the cover you would need one that already has a hinge in place such as part # BV0554-03. You can see this process done in the attached install video.

As you can see in the attached photo, the inside of the cover measures to be 14-1/4" across from either way. This is because the standard roof vent opening is 14" across which leaves 1/8" on either side for clearance. As long as the inside lip of the cover is larger than the outside of your roof vent opening than the cover will work for you. The outside measurement will not matter so long as there's clearance inside. It sounds like from your measurements that you do indeed have the standard roof vent opening which means this cover will be a direct fit.
