For your 2010 Ford F-150 Platinum with factory integrated brake controller, the first thing I recommend checking since the trailer works well on your 2000 GMC 1500 is the trailer connection itself. I recommend cleaning the pins using some sand paper or steel wool as sometimes there is an issue with corrosion causing a power jump from one pin to another. If you are getting constant braking, there is power getting to the trailer brakes even when you are not hitting the brake pedal or manual override on the controller. I recommend testing the 5 o'clock pin on your truck when the trailer is not connected using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If you are getting a bright light without hitting the brake or manual override lever then you will need to trace that wire to find where the power is coming from.
Ford did use a different pin out between 2009 and 2011 for their wiring harness. I've attached an article to assist.
