Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller and 7-Way on 2011 Mazda CX-9 with 4-Way

Question:

Hello, My 2011 Mazda CX-9 is equipped with a factory tow package. Its currently set up for a four pin connector, but I would like to change that to a 7 pin RV style connector for use with electronic brakes. I have located what appears to be the factory harness, which has seven wires coming in and four going out for the four pin connection. What do I need to do or install to replace the four pin connector? Can I simply remove the four pin harness and run the factory wires to a seven pin adapter? Thank

For your 2011 Mazda CX-9 we have a way to install a brake controller but we do not have a way to tie into any factory wiring on your vehicle. The best solution we have would be the # ETBC7 which comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a 7-way and install a brake controller.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
