When is a Weight Distribution System Recommended
Question:
Do I even need a WD hitch

We recommend using a weight distribution system anytime the trailer's weight is more than 50 percent of the tow vehicle's weight, the vehicle's rear sags when a trailer is connected, or you're experiencing sway while towing.
To determine the system you need requires you to find your trailer's loaded tongue weight and add that to the amount of weight you have stored behind the tow vehicle's rear axle.
There are a few ways to find a trailer's tongue weight that are detailed in the article I've attached. The easiest is to use a tongue weight scale, like the # e99044, and weigh it when it's loaded. Once you have the tongue weight add in the weight behind the rear axle and use that to select the appropriate system. You want the number you've gotten to fall within the range the system is rated for. For example the Fastway e2, part # FA92-00-0600 is rated from 250 to 600 pounds of tongue weight.
