Troubleshooting Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 with S.H Code
Question:
I purchased a new trailer brake controller for one of my trucks. This unit keeps flashing SH on screen indicating a short. We have cut the blue wire and the SH goes out. I then ran new power wire and ground outside truck to brand new truck plug on backside of truck to trailer and tested did the same thing. Installed new brake controller with all new wires run from back to front and still shows SH when the button slides to the side indicating brakes applied but now the light stays off until you slide the button over.

The S.H code that you are seeing on your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 is because of a short, just as you said. The installation instructions state that this can be caused by some test lights or non-Tekonsha testers. Check to make sure that you don't have either of those first and foremost.
The next thing that I recommend checking is the connector on your truck. Since you replace the wiring from your brake controller to the 7-Way I would take a closer look at the 7-Way itself and look for any places that look damaged or corroded.
Check the wiring that is connected to the P2 to ensure everything looks good and isn't damaged. If it is then that would be your problem and it needs to be replaced.
If the short code is happening while your trailer is connected then that could very well be the problem as well. Check the 7-Way on your trailer as well as that your grounds are secured to a bare-metal surface and that all of your wiring isn't damaged.
