Recommended Under-Bed Mounting Kit for a 2011 Ram 3500 Dually
Question:
I have a 2011 Ram 3500 DRW CC with Reese Pro 20k and slider moved from a previous rig. I want to convert to a below bed rail hitch system and get rid of the slider function as it is not needed and to gain better access to my bed with the hitch removed. The truck bed has a liner. Is there any reason I cannot convert hitch style? Also how can I prevent the left behind holes from rusting the truck bed? I would like to install a gooseneck type ball system like the BandW and use either an Andersen Ultimate Hitch or a Pullrite ISR.

The correct B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for your 2011 Ram 3500 will depend on if you have a diesel or gasoline engine. If you have the diesel engine then you are going to want to use part # BWGNRK1313 but if you have a gasoline engine you are going to want to use part # BWGNRK1308.
Once this is installed you could then use the Andersen Ultimate Hitch that attaches to the gooseneck ball. However, the Pullrite ISR would not work for you as it attaches to industry standard above bed rails. Instead, I recommend using the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3400-5W if you have a 6-1/2' bed or part # BWRVK3500-5W if you have the 8' bed. You will need to use a sliding hitch if you have the 6-1/2' to provide turning clearance. The B&W Companion can be removed while not in use and the install kit also doubles as a gooseneck hitch.
In order to prevent the left-behind holes from rusting, I recommend simply taking a can of spray paint and touching them up to where no bare metal is showing.
