RV-Rated Hitch-Mount 2-Bike Rack for Class C Motorhome with 1-1/4-Inch Hitch Receiver
Question:
Our motorhome is a 2017 Winnebago Trend 23D that has a 1.25inch hitch. Our e-bikes are folders with 20inch wheels, just over 37 lbs each with the batteries removed. We plan on traveling with the bikes unfolded on a rack to free up space, folding and putting inside when out hiking, etc. The bikes have a wheelbase of 41inch hub-to-hub. My concerns are: the fairly low 24, rectangular frame tubes, about 2inch wide and the small wheels with low fenders. It seems that hoop-style wheel holders would have to be adjustable and/or sized just right. Maybe tray-type would be better? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Most motorhomes typically have a 2-inch hitch but we can still help you with a 2-bike hitch rack for your folding e-bikes to transport them on the 1-1/4-inch hitch on your 2017 Winnebago Trend 23D Class C motorhome.
In your circumstances we need to balance a few things: the higher-than-average Evelo bike weight of about 37-lbs each without batteries and the fact that you need a carrier rated for use on an RV. Not all bike racks can be used on a motorhome but we have a range of racks that can be. The Saris Freedom 2 carrier # SA4412B you referenced is not RV-rated, please note.
Please refer to the linked page that will display for you the range of RV-rated 2-bike carriers that will fit a 1-1/4-inch hitch.
The Swagman Chinook # S64683 is worth your consideration. This rack will fit both 1-1/4- and 2-inch hitches, it includes locks both for the rack and for the loaded bikes, it has a 45-lbs-per-bike weight rating, works with wheelbases up to 50-inches and will accommodate tires widths to 3-inches. If your tires are wider an accessory wheel tray kit is offered, part # S64694. I've linked to a video review below.
If you find that the fit of the rack's frame hook on your bikes is not ideal, you can simply pop on a bike adapter bar # UB01 between the seat post and handlebar stem; this provides an alternate location for the rack's hook to secure the bike.
