Comparison of Gooseneck Hitch Balls to Fit Ram Truck with Factory Goosneck Package

Question:

How do these fifth wheel balls compare to say a reese ball? Also how do they compare to a BandW ball. I have always run the BandW system and recently bought a ram pickup with the factor fifth wheel system in it

The Curt # C60618, Reese # RP30140, and B&W # BWGNXA2062 hitch balls that fit the factory gooseneck hitch in your Ram are all great quality. There are a few differences though, mainly the way the ball is locked into place.

The Curt has an integrated lever in the top of the ball that activates the ball bearings in the shank. The lever is made of steel and very easy to access and use. The Reese ball has a similar lever only you pull and turn it. It's also made of plastic intead of steel like the Curt. The B&W has a much larger handle which is what makes it better and worse than the other two. The handle makes it easier to grab and carry the ball to install or remove it. However, it's a lot larger and could be more in the way than the small levers of the Curt and Reese.

Of the three I prefer the B&W. I think the handle makes removing the ball much easier than the small levers. The handle is larger but I don't think that will be an issue all that often since the ball is really only going to be in the truck's bed when you're towing a trailer anyway.
