5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kit for 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed

Question:

I have a Drawtite 50258 fifth wheel hitch that I need an installation kit for. Vehicle is a 2015 GMC SLE 2500 with a 66inch box. First do I need to sell this hitch and get a slider? Also if this hitch will work it is a drawtite hitch and I heard the Reese 30868 install kit would work and be a flush install in the bed of the truck.....can you confirm? Thanks

I wasn't able to find a Draw-Tite hitch 50258 so I don't have specific details on it. Although if it fits industry standard rails you won't have a problem finding rails to fit. Check out the picture I've attached to measure the hitch and see if it fits the standard rails. However, the Reese # RP30868 underbed kit only fits the Reese Elite Series fifth wheel hitches and other hitches that fit the Ford factory puck system. Instead if it fits the industry standard rails use part # RP50066-58 that fits your 2015 GMC Sierra 2500. If you have more information on the hitch or can send me some pictures of it I can give you more specific recommendation.

With that being said you're right to look at a sliding hitch for your 6-1/2 foot bed. A sliding hitch helps you with turning clearance because it moves the pivot point back in your truck's bed. With a short bed truck you're likely to hit the trailer on the cab when trying to execute sharp turns. Let me know the GVWR of your trailer and I'll recommend a sliding fifth wheel hitch for you as well.
