Does Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer DM8550045 Have to Remove Before Hitch Ball

Question:

Can I pull the retaining pin holding the flip over ball in place and remove the hitch and ball from the bed of my truck or does the hitch put tension on the ball preventing it from being removed when attached to the hitch. Thanks.

With the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 you'd really want to remove the hitch first and then remove the ball. Trying to remove the ball with the hitch might sound appealing but it's going to possibly bind up the release pin of the hitch.
