How to Pick Out Replacement Landing Gear for 1994 Cobra Sandpiper Fifth Wheel
Question:
I recently purchased a 94 Cobra Sandpiper fifth wheel as a project trailer. The landing gear is not functioning as it should and I would like to replace the entire set. After reading reviews and looking at diagrams on your website I measured the brackets. I know that in most cases the brackets will measure 17-1/2 inches. My brackets measures 18-1/2. Is there a landing gear set that will bolt on directly or will I need to replace the brackets in order to replace the landing gear? Thanks

I attached a picture that shows where the 17-1/2 inch measurement needs to be taken from for one of our landing gear kits to fit directly. You might double check that you measured from the right place.
Otherwise you could just have the brackets removed from your trailer by a qualified welder and then install the brackets that come with the Bulldog Tandem Landing Gear Set # BD500162. Either way this landing gear set would work well for you, you just might have to have the brackets of your trailer removed and then install the brackets of the # BD500162.
The jacks would be the correct replacement for Lippert, Venture, and Atwood landing gear, as well as those from a few other manufacturers. The sure way to tell is that if the distance between the mounting brackets (underside of top bracket to top of lower bracket as shown in the diagram) is 17-1/2 inches. If this is the case, the landing gear should fit just fine.
If your frame clamps are instead 20-1/4 inches the Ultra Fab part # UF17-943010 would be a direct replacement.
