Will the SumoSprings Helper Springs Raise the Height on a 2016 FR3 with a Ford F-53 Chassis

Question:

I have a 2016 FR3 on the Ford F53 18k chassis just like the one in your video!. Will adding SumoSprings front and/or back raise the nominal resting height of the motor home? The recommended rear SumoSprings are SSR-187-40-1 for this model. The reason I am asking this is that I keep my motor home in a garage. The top entrance clearance is less than 1, the top of the air conditioner at the center of the coach is the highest point. Increasing the height by even a small amount would present a problem for me. Thanks,

The SumoSprings Helper Springs typically don't raise the height of the vehicle they are installed on. They are designed to offer help when the vehicle is swaying or under a load in which case they basically just cause resistance.

The reason I said that they typically do not raise the height is because if the suspension is in bad shape they have been known to help the suspension out and raise the vehicle a little. Since your FR3 is a 2016 I would be surprised if your suspension was worn enough that the SumoSprings raised your height.

The part # SSR-187-40-1 that you referenced is for the rear axle, and for the front axle you would want part # SSF-170-40-2 which also has a 2,600 lb weight capacity.

Just as the springs won't raise your height, they also will not raise the weight capacity of your FR3. They are only designed to be used with a suspension system that is in good working order.
