Replacement Brake Controller Recommendation for Shorted Hopkins Reliance

Question:

2002 f150 brake lights come on with reliance brake controller installed and no trailer. The unit reads E1 and the brake lights on the truck stay on. If i push the manual brake button they go off but will come back on and stay on. Any ideas?

The Hopkins Reliance is known for having internal problems pretty easily and based on what you stated it sounds like yours is shorted out and in need of replacing.

The Prodigy P2 part # 90885 would be a fantastic replacement solution. It works incredibly well and is very reliable unlike the Hopkins so it would be the way to go.
