How To Charge Auxiliary Battery On Trailer Only When 2018 Audi Q7 Ignition Is On
Question:
which of the 7 pins 4 or 7 can be used to power auxillary lights on a trailer only when the vehicle is running? so as not to drain the battery of the man vehicle. I want to charge an auxillary battery when running, but not have it drain the vehicle if shut off?

Based on your information, I believe your best option is to add a solenoid like the Battery Isolation Solenoid, Item # PK5231201. This solenoid will shut off the 12-volt feed from your vehicle battery to the 12-volt accessories/auxiliary battery on your trailer when the ignition is turned off. This auxiliary power wire will connect to the 12-volt power pin on a 7-Way connector (see attached picture).
I am also attaching a help article and video for you to check out.
