Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 5-1/2 foot Bed

Question:

I have a trailboss hitch that was supplied with a 2001 Glendale titanium 29e34 fifth wheel. But I dont have the rails or instructions. I have a 2017 GMC 1500 with 66inch bed. 4x4 with heavy duty suspension. Can I get the rails and installation kit for my truck.

The Trailboss fifth wheel hitch you have is designed to fit industry standard fifth wheel rails so for a rail kit that is compatible with it and your 2017 GMC 1500 5-1/2 foot bed you'd want the # RP50064-58 which is a custom install kit. Custom kits are much easier to install as they minimize drilling and install time.

Since you have such a short bed you will need to replace your current pin box with a Sidewinder so that you can make tight turns without interference.

You will need to remove the pin box of the trailer and replace it with a Sidewinder pin box. Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
