Would Dexter 5,200 lb Trailer Axle have Manual Or Self Adjusting Brake Assemblies
Question:
Recently purchased a 2018 cargo trailer with a Dexter axel rated at 5200 lbs. Can anyone please tell me if this has self adjusting brakes?

Expert Reply:
Dexter makes 5,200 lb trailer brake assemblies that are self adjusting like part # 23-458-459 as well as ones that are manual adjust like part # 23-105-106 so it could go either way.
I attached a picture that points out what to look for on your assemblies once you pull off the hub to tell if they are self adjust or manual adjust. The steel cable you see is part of the linkage mechanism which makes the assemblies adjust automatically.
