are the placement of ram puck system different in the short bed /long bed 5th wheel

The Ram Puck System is identical in the 6-1/2 foot bed and the 8 foot bed. If you already have a 5th wheel hitch with industry standard base rail compatibility, then I recommend the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6099 or the Reese # RP30154.
If you don't already have a hitch, I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # C16046 for an 8 foot bed or sliding hitch # C16546 along with adapter # C16022.
